Born 1962 in Germany, Sylvia has lived and worked in Brussels since 1995.
Her artistic interest developed in parallel with her studies of biology and neuroscience in the 1980’s. Her artistic skills are completely self-taught and varied and are characterised by unusual and multidisciplinary rather than conventional approaches. Starting with the design and construction of individual light objects and lamps, her spectrum of media was broadened with photography, sculpture and furniture collages.
Favouring unusual views and perspectives in her photographic work, she is always aiming at abstraction, resulting in mostly colourful photographic “paintings”. The sculptures and lamps are mostly composed of driftwood, stones and other found materials. All her works show a strong attraction by structure, composition and details
